9 Mathematics Targeted Numeracy

9MTN
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs K. Kim.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students will typically have well developed number skills, but are struggling with geometry, measurement and/or statistics. They may struggle with some worded questions but are willing to attempt all the work and are focused on their learning task and trying to improve their knowledge.

This course is in response to students’ needs and teacher recommendations with a focus on the numeracy CAA which is needed for students wishing to attain NCEA accreditation.

It is a one semester course that students complete either in Year 9 or Year 10 with a focus on skills needed in the numeracy corequisite. This course offers 4 periods of additional support for students who are tracking just below the numeracy corequisite success threshold to work on preparing them to sit the assessment in Year 10.
