Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr P. Kemsley-Smith.

This course forms the foundation of a pathway to university. Delivering two internal and one external assessment the course is structured to encourage critical thinking and problem solving resulting in the design and production of hard materials-based solutions. Students will research, design then construct new products from wood, metals, plastics, fabrics, electronics, in single materials or combinations of these. They will also have the opportunity to use a variety of Computer Aided Design and manufacturing systems.

Assessment Information

Assessment for the course is by portfolio. Students are recommended to choose a maximum of two portfolio subject in the same academic year.

EQUIPMENT/STATIONERY:

In addition to a laptop computer and some general stationery, specific items for each course will be confirmed at the beginning of each school year.

As an indication, for this course you are likely to need:

- USB Drive 16GB

- Kit to be purchased from school



Note:

Requirements will be emailed home and explained in class at the start of the year.

Students who completed 9TDT or 10TDT will have the option to order individual equipment items should they need to replenish equipment from their kit.
