Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs M. Gleeson.

This course is a combined Health and Physical Education course which allows a breadth of choice at year 11. This course may also benefit students who don’t consider themselves to be highly sport focused but enjoy the practical side of physical education and the underlying concepts of health.

 Areas of study include:

  • Teamwork - Tactics, Strategies and movement
  • Hauora - Well-being, factors affecting.
  • Anatomy, biomechanics and exercise physiology
  • Decision making - Understanding factors affecting decisions we make.
  • Personal, Interpersonal and Societal factors influencing Hauora.

Students will also have the opportunity to experience a range of practical activities as well as develop a deeper level of understanding of the underlying concepts of Health and Physical Education.

EQUIPMENT/STATIONERY:
Confirmed stationary lists will be available at the beginning of the school year. It is unlikely that this course will require any items in addition to a laptop computer and some general stationery.
