L2 Food Technology

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss S. Hickey.

Food plays an important role in bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging, across the diverse cultures of Aotearoa New Zealand. Through engaging with food technology, students will combine practical skills with theoretical knowledge and develop their lateral thinking skills to innovatively solve problems. They will develop knowledge about materials, techniques and processes which are intrinsic to their application and use. In addition, they will learn to plan projects to develop specifications through design concepts and the use of briefs. Students will, throughout their learning, gain experiences, knowledge and attributes, and life skills that can lead to and support a wide range of pathways. This includes roles in the field of food technology, education, nutrition, food science, media and publishing and events management.
